About Us
Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles Benefits
Natural gas vehicles offer economic and environmental advantages over vehicles powered by diesel and gasoline. They can provide a positive impact on air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce dependency on petroleum, and they also utilize a low-cost, domestic fuel. Click the link below for an informational video on the many benefits and impacts of using CNG for your own fleet.
Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
Join the growing number of transportation fleets that are achieving cleaner air and decarbonized miles with a RNG-fueled fleet. In today’s transportation sectors, like medium- and heavy-duty trucking, RNG can provide a sustainable pathway for reducing your fleets carbon emissions without compromising your existing business operations. Depending on the feedstock from which it’s derived, RNG can sometimes be considered a carbon negative fuel, preventing more emissions than it produces.
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) having a significantly greater negative impact on the climate than carbon dioxide. RNG’s ability to capture this methane and use it for beneficial purposes reduces its climate impact. Additionally, RNG promotes fuel security, local economic benefits, air and water quality improvements and a broader application of circular economy solutions.
Piedmont has started offering RNG at our public CNG stations to help our transportation and fleet customers reduce their emissions, as well as reduce the emissions of our own vehicle fleet. Learn more about Piedmont’s renewable natural gas efforts. For additional information about RNG, visit The Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas and The Transport Project (formerly known as NGV America).
Grants & Incentives
State and local governments offer incentives to encourage the adoption of natural gas vehicles. These regulatory efforts are designed to reduce the dependence on oil for transportation needs and it also reduces emissions and greenhouse gases.
