Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Skains joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1995, after nearly 15 years with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation in Houston. Prior to his appointments as Piedmont’s Chairman, President and CEO in 2003 and President and COO in 2002, he served as Senior Vice President - Marketing and Supply Services.

Mr. Skains served as chairman of the American Gas Association in 2009 and as chairman of the Southern Gas Association in 2006, and currently serves on the board of directors for each organization. In addition, he presently holds positions on the boards of directors of BB&T Corporation and Branch Banking and Trust Company. Mr. Skains is the immediate past chairman of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and remains a member of the executive committee of the board. He has previously served on the boards of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, the United Way of Central Carolinas and the Gas Technology Institute, and the board of trustees of Johnson and Wales University, Providence Day School and the American Gas Foundation. Mr. Skains was also co-chair of the 2004 & 2005 American Heart Association Charlotte Metro Heart Walks and the 2006 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Arts and Science Council Annual Fund Drive.

Mr. Skains has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law School. He is an inactive member of the State Bar of Texas.

Victor M. Gaglio
Senior Vice President and Chief Utility Operations Officer

Mr. Gaglio joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2012 and is responsible for Distribution and Utility Operations. He also oversees Engineering Services, which includes Construction, Operations Support & Services, Codes and Standards, Measurement, System Design and Modeling, Pipeline Integrity, GIS, Gas Control/SCADA and Enterprise Quality Management.

Mr. Gaglio has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry in a variety of positions with Columbia Gas Transmission and NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage. Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Gaglio served as Senior Vice President of Operations for NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage, where he was responsible for Field Operations and Maintenance, Storage, Land Services, and Health, Safety and Environmental programs.

Mr. Gaglio received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has attended executive development programs at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Jane R. Lewis-Raymond
Senior Vice President and Chief Legal, Compliance and External Relations Officer

Mrs. Lewis-Raymond joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2006 and is responsible for the Company's Legal Affairs, Legislative and Community Affairs, Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation, Sustainability and Carbon Management, Company Security and Facilities Management, Corporate Secretary and Corporate Compliance, Safety and Security matters.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Mrs. Lewis-Raymond was Vice President - Regulatory Affairs for the American Gas Association (AGA) in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Lewis-Raymond received her Bachelor’s degree and her law degree from the University of Maryland. She serves on the Teach for America Charlotte Board, the Keystone Energy Board and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is a member of the Energy Bar Association as well as other professional organizations.

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Newlin joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2010 to manage Piedmont’s strategic planning functions, new business development activities and joint venture investments. In November 2011, Mr. Newlin was appointed to the position of chief financial officer, assuming responsibility for Piedmont’s accounting, controller, finance, treasurer, investor relations, risk insurance, credit policy, risk management and state regulatory affairs areas.

Mr. Newlin previously served as Managing Director, Investment Banking with Merrill Lynch & Co. in its New York and Los Angeles offices. He has extensive experience in the energy industry leading teams in corporate financings and business transactions for natural gas distribution and midstream companies, electric utilities, independent power producers and clean energy companies. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Mint Museum and is a former board chair of the Arts & Science Council. 

Mr. Newlin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University and his MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Mr. O'Hara joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1987 and is responsible for the Information Services, Human Resources, Change Readiness, and Communications and Public Relations functions. He has previously served as Piedmont’s Vice President of Business Development and Ventures, and Vice President of Corporate Planning.

Before joining Piedmont, Mr. O'Hara began his career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in its Chicago office. He is a member of the Southern Gas Association and American Gas Association, and he currently serves as board chair of The First Tee of Greater Charlotte.  Previously, Mr. O’Hara served on the boards of the Charlotte Chamber, Charlotte Regional Partnership, Arts & Science Council and Charlotte Steeplechase Association.

Mr. O'Hara earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from DePaul University.

Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer 

Mr. Yoho joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2002 and is responsible for Sales and Marketing, Transportation Services, Supply Planning, Gas Supply, Wholesale Marketing, Field Customer Service and Customer Service.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Yoho was Vice President, Business Development for CT Communications, and Senior Vice President - Marketing and Gas Supply for the former Public Service Company of North Carolina (PSNC), now a division of SCANA Corporation.

Mr. Yoho received his MBA from Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Washington and Jefferson College. Mr. Yoho serves as board chair of The Southern Gas Association. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) at UNC Charlotte. He has served as First Vice President of the Southeastern Gas Association and was formerly on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Gas Technology.

Bruce Barkley
Vice President - Regulatory Affairs, Rates and Gas Cost Accounting

Mr. Barkley joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2015 and is responsible for regulatory relations and rates in Piedmont’s three-state service territory. He also is responsible for the Company’s gas cost accounting function.

Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Barkley served as Duke Energy’s Manager – Regulatory Affairs, a position he held since 2012.

Mr. Barkley earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also has an MBA from Wake Forest University. He also is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina.

Vice President – Gas Supply and Pipeline Services

Mr. Maust joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1988 and is responsible for gas supply and pipeline capacity acquisition, gas supply planning and hedging activities, federal energy regulatory matters and gas scheduling.

Mr. Maust has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry. Prior to his current role, Mr. Maust held a variety of positions in the gas supply department, most recently as Managing Director of Gas Supply and Wholesale Marketing.

Mr. Maust has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University. He is a member of the American Gas Association’s Federal Regulatory Committee and is a board member of the Union County Red Cross.

Vice President- Corporate Secretary and Deputy General Counsel

Ms. Mayo joined Piedmont in 2006 and is responsible for Piedmont’s corporate secretary and governance function, as well as legal matters relating to finance, securities and natural gas supply. 

Prior to joining Piedmont, Ms. Mayo was an Associate  General Counsel with Duke Energy and served as General Counsel of Duke Ventures, comprised of Duke’s telecommunications, merchant financing and real estate development subsidiaries. She was in private practice for seven years with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobson in New York. 

Ms. Mayo received her Bachelor’s degrees magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from the University of Chicago. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina and New York.  She is a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals as well as other professional organizations, and she served as a Trustee of the North Carolina Dance Theatre and Chair of its Outreach Committee.

Mr. Merlie joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2007 and is responsible for the strategy, planning, architecture and delivery of information technology solutions to support Piedmont’s business objectives.

Mr. Merlie has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry. Prior to joining Piedmont, he served as Director of Operations for Williams International in Caracas, Venezuela.

Mr. Merlie earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. He currently serves on the boards of the non-profits Apparo and the Midwood International and Cultural Center. He previously served as president of the board of the non-profit International House in Charlotte and served on the advisory board of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.

Mr. Myers joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2003 and is responsible for system planning, engineering, gas control, transmission construction and operations; system integrity, codes, standards and compliance; and Utility Operations technology, performance and financial administration.

Before being appointed to his current role, Mr. Myers served in a variety of positions at Piedmont, including Managing Director of Engineering and Operations Services, Regional Executive, and Managing Director of LNG Storage Projects. Prior to joining Piedmont, he held management positions at North Carolina Natural Gas, formerly a Progress Energy company, and PSNC Energy, a SCANA company.

Mr. Myers earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and his MBA from Queens University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer registered in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He serves on the board of Gas Technology Institute’s Operations Technology Development Company and is a former board member of Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina.

Mr. Pritchard joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1978 and is responsible for the areas of finance, treasury, budgeting, investor relations, risk insurance, risk management, credit policy and supply chain.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Pritchard held a variety of positions in the areas of finance, corporate planning and regulatory affairs.

Mr. Pritchard is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Mars Hill College and his MBA from Wake Forest University's Babcock School of Business. He serves as a member of the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Charlotte.

Mr. Simon joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2006 and is responsible for corporate accounting, including property, plant and equipment, and accounts payable; internal and external financial reporting; corporate tax; and payroll.

Mr. Simon has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry. Prior to joining Piedmont, he held several positions with Virginia Natural Gas, a subsidiary of AGL Resources, including Director of Public Affairs, Regional Manager, Manager of Field Services and Controller. Prior to his employment with Virginia Natural Gas, he held accounting and planning and budgeting positions at Stihl Inc. and Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co.

Mr. Simon earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Old Dominion University. He currently serves on the American Gas Association (AGA) Accounting Leadership Council, served on the board of Habitat for Humanity Charlotte for seven years and served two years as Chair of the AGA Accounting Leadership Conference and the AGA Accounting Principles Committee. He also has served on the boards of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce as Vice Chairman, the Norfolk (Va.) Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Peninsula Habitat for Humanity, United Way of the Virginia Peninsula, Virginia Living Museum, Virginia Peninsula YMCA and the Virginia Oil and Gas Board.

Mr. Valentine joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1996 and is responsible for evaluating and developing new business lines related to joint ventures and midstream investments, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, long-range forecasting, the Piedmont fleet, supply chain, energy programs with the military, and the natural gas vehicle market.

Before being appointed to his current role, Mr. Valentine held a variety of responsibilities at Piedmont, including joint venture management, project management, budgeting and forecasting, natural gas transportation services, natural gas supply planning, interstate pipeline contracting and federal regulatory. Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Valentine worked for Williams/Transco, where he was responsible for planning, market analysis and forecasting, joint venture and mergers and acquisitions development, rate design and preparation of FERC filings.

Mr. Valentine earned his Bachelor of Science in Mineral Economics from Pennsylvania State University. He is the former chair of the American Gas Association FERC Regulatory Committee, a member and former conference chair of the Southern Gas Association, a member of the Harris YMCA board in Charlotte and a former chair of the board of Carolina Raptor Center. He is also a member of the Charlotte Regional Partnership Business Development & Marketing Committee.

Mr. Williams joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 2006 and is responsible for Sales (Residential, Commercial, Key/Major Accounts, Military, Municipal and Power Generation) and Non-Regulated Services.

Mr. Williams has more than 30 years of experience in the natural gas industry in a variety of positions with the former Consolidated Natural Gas Company, now a part of Dominion, and more recently with the former Public Service Company of North Carolina (PSNC), now a division of SCANA Corporation. Prior to joining Piedmont, Mr. Williams was General Manager, Gas Supply and Sales for PSNC.

Mr. Williams earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Washington and Jefferson College. He serves on the executive committee of SouthStar Energy Services and the Boards of Directors of Utilization Technology Development and the United Way of Central Carolinas. He formerly was vice chairman of the board of Community School of the Arts and board chairman of Carolina Raptor Center, both in Charlotte.

Brian C. Woody
Vice President - Customer Experience

Mr. Woody joined Piedmont Natural Gas in 1996. He is responsible for the customer experience, which includes contact center operations, field customer service, billing and payments, and centralized scheduling.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Woody served as Managing Director of Field Customer Service, Director of Contact Center Operations and Manager of Utility Operations, and he held several supervisory roles within Utility Operations.

Mr. Woody obtained his Bachelors of Science degree from Limestone College. He serves on the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes and also is a Southern Gas Association committee member. He previously has served on the Boards of the Palmetto Utility Protection Service and the Carolina Raptor Center.
